European Research Funds

The AEI co-finances its activities with funds from the European Union. Traditionally, FEDER and European Social Fund (FSE) funds have been used. The objective of these European Structural and Investment Funds (EIE Funds) is to promote the competitiveness and convergence of all the territories and they are an essential instrument to face the main development challenges of Spain and in the application of the Europe 2020 Strategy The State Research Agency has been designated an Intermediate Body for the management of actions co-financed with the FEDER and the FSE within the scope of its powers.

The health crisis resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic launched the Recovery, Transition and Resilience Plan (PRTR), financed by the Recovery and Resilience Facility (Recovery and Resilience Facility, RRF) of the European Union. The AEI executes PRTR funds directly, and applies them to calls for the years 2020 to 2023. These four years belong to two State Plans for Scientific and Technical Research and Innovation (PEICTI 2017-2020 and PEICTI 2021-2023).

The following sections present details on the use of these three types of European funds in the AEI, provide information on the fight against fraud and provide contact information in relation to these funds.
